Abstract:Abstract : In order to investigate the distribution characteristics of the wind field in Zunyi City under the influence of multiple weather systems and complex topography in recent years , the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of the surface wind speed and direction in Zunyi are analyzed by means of conventional statistical methods on the basis of the extremely high wind observation data of the regional automatic stations from 2018 to 2023 . The results show that :1) The annual average wind speed in Zunyi is 5 . 8 m/s , with prevailing wind speeds ranging from 3 to 7 . 5 m/s , and catastrophic gales accounting for 0 . 2% . 2)The overall prevailing wind direction on the surface is easterly, turning to southerly in summer affected by the South China Sea monsoon . Catastrophic gales occur mostly in spring and summer , with May being the high occurrence period . Westerly and northwesterly catastrophic gales dominate in spring and southerly gales in the other seasons . 3 ) Daily extreme winds and catastrophic gales mainly occur in the afternoon to night , and the catastrophic gales tend to occur between 16 ∶00 and 19 ∶00 , when westerly gales are dominant. 4) The northwestern and southern low-elevation areas of Zunyi City and the middle part of the Loushan Mountain Range are areas of high wind speeds and high incidence of catastrophic gales . Except for the northwestern Zunyi where the westerly or northerly winds prevail all year round and the northeastern part where easterly winds blow throughout the year , most other parts have southerly or southeasterly winds in summer , and easterly and northeasterly in autumn , winter and spring. These findings are of decision-making reference significance for disaster prevention and mitigation of catastrophic gales , wind energy development and utilization , and agricultural production .
