Abstract:This study selected 30 hail events in Qiannan Prefecture from 2006 to 2022, and the conventional upper-air and surface meteorological data were analyzed by means of synoptic analysis. The weather classification primarily relied on the ground flow type, supplemented by the high-low-altitude flow type. Localized conclusions regarding the configuration of weather background flow types and T-logP patterns prior to hail occurrence in Qiannan Prefecture were obtained. The findings revealed: (1) Three favorable weather circulation types were identified before hail occurrence in Qiannan Prefecture, namely hot low-pressure convergence type, overhead thunderstorm type, and cold front low trough (shear) type. (2) The central and northern parts of Qiannan Prefecture exhibited a higher frequency of hail occurrences under the hot low-pressure convergence type, while the central part experienced more frequent hail events under the overhead thunderstorm type, and both central and southern regions encountered increased hail frequencies under the cold front low trough (shear) type. (3) Four T-logP patterns were observed preceding hail occurrences in Qiannan Prefecture: funnel-free shuttle pattern, no funnel shuttle pattern, small funnel shuttle pattern, and large funnel shuttle pattern.
